V1.07
General
- Character Sheet now calculates stat changes from equipables like armor, HP, and mana. Only permanent changes are calculated, any conditional changes aren’t factored in. Additionally, LOOT changes haven’t been added yet.
- Removed DISABLED condition, it was basically the effects of DISARMED and SILENCED, and wasn’t very common. Therefore, it’s easier to just specify those two conditions instead of a new one that combines them.
- Added action resolution rules.
- UNBREAKABLE items can’t be selected as WOUND destruction options unless there are no non-unbreakable options left. An unbreakable weapon that would be destroyed instead becomes a DAZED result.
- OVERSTRESS Result: Unfocused result is now either lose a technique, or have mana max reduced by 2 until the end of the quest or until repaired.
- OVERSTRESS Result: Exposed result now leaves you VULNERABLE and WEAKENED until cleared. [Since vulnerable and weakened are both conditions, there are many effects that can clear both. This also puts them in a worse position, closer to the STUNNED result from the wound table, which is really nasty].
- Squeezing: You can only squeeze in spaces one size smaller than you.
- DEFEND: No longer allows multiple reactions in the same turn.
- INTERPOSE: An attack roll can only be interposed once, preventing a leap from effect from multiple allies with parry.
- COUNTERATTACK: Limited to 1/round.
- FULL ATTACK: Specify that linked weapon attacks only trigger if they haven’t been used yet this turn.
- CHANNEL: Focus save doesn’t trigger on stress caused by you. [this prevents a weird situation where using the reroll table for stress on a Focus Saves causes an additional focus save.]
Actions
Ancestry
- GNOME
- Fade Away: Invisibility occurs against the triggering attack.
- LYCANTHROPE
- Sneaky Form: Free action hiding is now 1/turn, instead of 1/round.
Class
- AEGIS
- BERSERKER
- Primal Strike. No longer has a lingering damage boost, but can be activated upon any hit, not just during your turn. [This ultimate is basically the old version of the Whetstone support item, which was INCREDIBLY powerful. Because this ability applies to bonus damage and other sources of damage, you can deliver a staggering amount of damage when you trigger it.]
- CHRONOMANCER
- Haste: Effect lasts until target gets a WOUND/OVERSTRESS, but no longer provides resistance to stress when SURGING. [Now that SURGE gives an entire 2nd turn, the ability to surge more easily is much more powerful, so I’ve taken out that aspect.]
- Slow: Now affects all characters, not just enemies. [area effects like this should have some element of aiming associated with them, or the Archmage talent to avoid hitting allies.]
- DEMONOLOGIST
- Ravager: The damage is now automatic, no save needed.
- DRAGON RIDER
- Forceful Jab: Now optional
- Impale: No longer a weapon attack, just deals damage equal to falling damage. [Previous impale ability had too much damage potential.]
- Skystep: New trait.
- Transfuse: Effect changed.
- Crash: Reworked.
- GRAVEWALKER
- Tombstone: The Gravewalker can have 2 tombstones summoned at a time.
- GUNSLINGER
- Customized Ammo: Mindjack Round: Removed the DISABLED effect on a miss.
- Splinter: Damage reduced to 2, now deals its damage twice. [The old version of this weapon was WAY too strong with minor damage increases, like the Technician talent. This version allows for strong synergy with that talent and other flat damage bonuses, but is no longer overwhelmingly so.]
- HEXBLADE
- Ultimate. Completely reworked.
- Curse of Weakness: Now needs 2 mana to impose WEAKENED.
- Shard of Doubt: Shards can now stack on a single target, to a maximum of 3 shards.
- PALADIN
- Now DEFENDER/SUPPORT role. [Their Auras give them strong support abilities, so it make sense to make them a dual role.]
- Manifest resolve, be Unbroken: Interpose still limited to 1/turn now.
- PHOENIX
- Meteor: Damage is now 2d6+3. [This makes it less likely that you’ll get a terrible damage roll on your channeled ultimate ability, which just feels bad. Now you have a minimum of 5 damage.]
- SHADOWDANCER
- Flash Step Dagger: Removed the auto-return clause. Either attack the ground or terrain if you want to the guaranteed teleport, or use the reroll table to ensure success. If you get the hit, you’ll be able to pick up automatically if you teleport.
- SHAPESHIFTER
- Defender Form: Reworked.
- SKALD
- Inspire: Now can be consumed for +1 ACC on an attack, check, or save. [The previous version only granted ACC to the next attack roll, which meant that it was useless to characters that don’t make attacks.]
- Tempo: Can’t slide ally if they are IMMOBILIZED.
- TIDECALLER
- Whirlpool: Area is difficult terrain.
- WARDEN
- Inner Reserves: Removed the counterattack/interpose clause, to bring it in line with the current DEFEND action rules.
- Greatoak Mauler: Damage reduced to 3d6. [The extra damage associated with this weapon generally also affects the original target, so they were being hit with basically 5d6. Now it’s closer to 4d6 against them.]
- WARLORD
- Focused Plan: Now 1/round.
- Standard of Courage: Now is Consumable instead of limited.
- Focus target: Now 1/round
- Added KNIGHT
- Added SPELLBLADE
- Added METAMAGIC
- Added KNIFE JUGGLER
- Armored Defender: Rank 2 now just gives the UNBREAKABLE tag, which has the same effect.
- Duelist: Rank 1 now only gives ACC for a MAIN weapon.
- Enchanter: Rank 3 now specifies you can’t use the same enchantment on one item twice.
- Slasher: Rank 3 Defensive Stance now imposes +1 DIF on blade attacks [Each of the other stances had a disadvantage when used, so I’ve added one to this stance].
- Technician: Rank 1 extra damage now counts as bonus damage.
Talents
Weapon
- Bloodpike. Reach reduced to 2.
Support
- Whetstone: Only the weapon’s damage is maximized, not bonus damage or extra damage sources. [This support item was way too strong, so much that the Berserker’s ultimate is now the old version of the Whetstone. Whetstones are still incredibly powerful for one-shots or short quests.]
Techniques
- Added ADAPTIVE CASTER
- Glancing Blow: damage reduction is after armor and resistances.
NPC
- Added FURY.
- Giant renamed Fortress
- Changes across the board. Mostly bringing the NPC action economy up to the current version of the game. There were a lot of NPC abilities that required an action, that should have been Quick Actions.
